Our Approach

We are both Family Systems trained through Pacific Coast Family Therapy Institute. We are also on the faculty of the Neufeld Institute and use the approach of developmental psychologist, Dr. Gordon Neufeld.

Through years of study and clinical practice, our approach is influenced by Jungian psychology, depth psychology, developmental psychology, attachment theory, and Eastern spirituality. Each client has a different style of learning and growing and how we approach a therapeutic session depends on the individual client.

Transformation comes from looking deeply within, to a state that exists before fear and isolation arise, the state in which we are inviolably whole just as we are. We connect to ourselves, to our own true experience, and discover there that to be alive means to be whole.
— Sharon Salzberg

We support adults dealing with:

  • Anxiety

  • Grief and loss

  • Separation and Divorce

  • Depression

  • Low self-esteem

  • Existential crisis

  • Life transitions

  • Family of origin work

  • Individuation

We do not work with children and are not taking on any new teen clients at this time.

Sometimes parents are wanting both parent consulting and individual counselling. Both can dovetail and we see this work complementing the growth of the individual and would welcome the opportunity to support both types of work during our sessions.

Don’t get lost in your pain.
Know that one day
Your pain will become your cure.

Testimonials from Clients

About Patti

I worked with Patti during the time of my separation and divorce. Her warmth, compassion, and skill as a counsellor was a tremendous support for me. Her knowledge about child and human development as well as attachment theory helped me move through a difficult time as I was able to safely explore my own emotions and understand the relational dynamics that can lead to divorce while also understanding how to best support my children through this transition.

About Colleen

I spent years spinning the same stories in therapy until I found Colleen. Her consistent compassionate and unconditional voice paired with her mastery of attachment theory finally changed my internal self-talk and allowed a depth of self-acceptance and grounding that became louder than all the neuroses. Colleen’s ability to attune with crystal clarity provided the corrective experience my soul had been seeking since birth. Anyone should be so lucky to work with her.
I met Colleen during a very difficult time in my life. Colleen’s wisdom and guidance helped me on a journey that I never thought I could survive. With her guidance, I am now able to reflect back to that time and appreciate the gifts I gained through this adversity and growth, and feel truly grateful. With Colleen’s support and trust, she helped me to look for the silver linings, celebrate my small steps, be patient, grateful and trust in myself. Colleen brings to her work great compassion with a healing and calm presence. I am thankful for everything Colleen has (and continues to teach me), it is an honour to know and learn from her.
Colleen is compassionate and kind but more than that, she is empowering and wise. I am so grateful to have her help me define what it means to be me and to navigate through the world with a little more clarity and grace.
